Can some stories in the Bible be considered epic literature?

Like the story of Noah, the Book of Exodus, or the life of Jesus?

I'd say Sampson would be the best example of epic literature, though the story of David might also apply. You also have Joshua and a handful of other great military leaders in the bible, but overall I don't think most of the texts meet the standard of "epic"

There are courses in colleges that look at the Bible for it's literary significance. Much like the look at the Iliad and Shakespeare. So yes it is not just a religious book but also considered to be great literature.

I don't think their quality really compares to The Odyssey or any of the other classics, but they could be classified as epics, especially Noah's Ark.

I have always wondered why the bible is found in the classical literature section.
