No.
1) Yes
2) No idea
3) Neither, she let me make my own choices
4) No, I pumped with my first. I only lasted a few months. Breastfeeding sort of weirded me about, but after the baby was actually born I thought more about breastfeeding. I never did give it a good try.
My second pregnancy, I went in knowing I wanted to try breastfeeding. Rest is history.

1. Yes, my mom breastfed us both.
2. One year, when l decided to wean on my own apparently. With my sister, she was exposed to a serious disease at work (nurse) and had to start a prophylactic antibiotic for a month when my sister was 4 months old. Had to switch to bottle.
3. She neither encouraged or discouraged. Having done both, she was very matter-of-fact if l asked her anything, but she didn't pressure either way.
4. We nursed as long as we could, but not very long. Son couldn't nurse well at all and wasn't diagnosed fast enough. About a month full-on (miserable and he was starving), another month with heavy supplementing.
Not sure how much influence my mom was. But she was definitely a big help when troubleshooting though. She kept telling me that something was wrong, that my instincts about it not being a supply problem were spot-on, and that l should keep hunting for a lactation consultant who would actually believe me. (Amazing how hard it is to convince some LCs that not all problems are a supply problem!)

1. My mom tried, but she didn't produce enough (thyroid issues) and LC were just as useles then as they are now.
2.My mom tried for about six weeks, but wasn't making enough and had to go back to work.
My mom did not discourage me to breastfeed or encourage me. My mom raised to be an independent thinker and was going to be supportive no matter what.
i tried breastfeeding my first, and hated it right from the start. The hospital and WIC LC were useless, and no one would teach me how to pump even though i brought a brand new hospital grade pump to the hospital with me. I tried everything for two weeks and decided to go formula only, and now 5 years later my DD is the smartest in her kindergarten class.

1. Yes, both of her children
2. about four months with both of her children,
3. I never considered formula feeding. When I was trying with my first she was supportive but my choice to give my child breast milk had nothing to do with her.
4. I had many difficulties in breast feeding my first child. I eventually switched to exclusively pumping. I managed somehow to pump for a year. Thankfully I was able to directly breast feed my second child.

1) don't know
2) don't know
My mother was not alive, so it was totally my own decision
Yes I breastfed all my 3 sons-
son 1-7 months
son 2 - 10 months
son 3 - 6 weeks, (had health problems so that's why it was short)
