What the hell is going on with the U.S. government?

I'm not from the U.S. so it's pretty difficult for me to always keep up on their news. Pretty much what I know right now is something about the government shutting down, and something about their massive pile of debt.

It's been happening for a while now.

The US is polarized. Some might say this is democracy, I say it's anti-democracy.

The two main parties control everything. They play a team game. They have a go at each other for things that are not very important so that people don't see the real issues that are going on between them.

At times they do a you sctratch my back type politics, but with the Tea Party they don't follow these rules, they just want their way or no way and if you don't like it, well....

This isn't democracy, this is just ridiculous. The US needs PR or something to make sure people actually have a say.

In 2008 for the federal elections political parties spend $5 billion, in 2012 they spent $6.5 billion, on what? On telling the American people what to think. It's usually called "advertising", but in politics they call it something else.

Political theater. These viciously partisan political hacks, on both sides, do exactly the same things and scream the same fear-mongering garbage, whenever the other party is in power.

It's more which party can spend more money on THEIR favorite projects/contributors/friends.

Now, it's just more vicious than ever in the past, with the administration purposely doing whatever it can to make people hurt, to cause as much damage as possible, to cast as much blame as it can on the other side so it can stay in power longer.

What's going on is politics ... healthy politics. The US government has not really shut down ... completely.

Also, the US government has shut down before ... 17 times. It happens from time to time.
