Whats the best way of legally protecting and making money from your songs?

Hello I'm a truck driver and also a pilot. In my spare time I've wrote some songs over the years.I have no intention of doing singing myself as I'm not in the right age bracket now to get to any "serious level".So my intensions are to write for other people, and compared to the modern day (past 10 years or so) crap I'd say my songs are pretty good.

Whats the best way of releasing them to market, copywritting, and keeping royalties from the artists who sing my songs?

Thanks people.

    There's also BASCA

Do some research before committing to either - people seem to have varied opinions. For example
