Boehner offered to raise the debt ceiling through Thanksgiving in exchange for negotiating on the budget (shutdown) including changes to Obamacare and tax reform. Obama still refusing to negotiate. Obama is the only one who ever said anything about defaulting on the debt. Paying the interest on the debt is not tied to congress. They can just pay it without further ado.

Since his parents moved back here when he was four, it's unlikely.
