    Not really. You can get some capacity back for a short while, but they'll go bad a lot quicker the next time. They're mostly a scam and cheap ones can be dangerous since they work by high voltage pulses. If the cells in the batteries are unequal, which they almost always are in bad ones, you can have a real problem.

    They will work nicely ... if you have sulfated batteries. If there is another problem with the cells -- and there are many other potential issues -- they may not help.

    I recommend that you go on the Web and find at least one good site that discusses the chemistry and problems of lead-acid batteries. That at least will give you an idea of what is involved. Note that some of the charge-rate tables you find in those references can be diagnostic for what you have.

    My own suspicion is that they've been cycled and deep-or rapid-discharged too many times, and much of the paste is lying at the bottoms of the cells...

    Take-home message: Get a good charger with a 'desulfating' cycle, run it *on the batteries* (take them out of the circuit or disconnect the hot leads) and see if there is any advantage. While you can still return the charger for credit, if you want, if there isn't any improvement. ;-}

    After researching this for myself I did find one that was made in the USA and also is of really good quality. I purchased mine from http://www.apexgolfcarts.com/ as they have the best deal on golf cart parts and accessories. The name of the Products is BLS its made in Florida and after doing my research and talking to Kyle the guys on the phone from APEX GOLF CART I came to the conclusion that they work best when mounted on New Batteries (Lead Acid Only). He said that on old batteries it really does not make of a difference but if you put them on new ones it will help protect your batteries on the long run which is nice because they are expensive so I guess now its up to you to decide if this is something you want to do now or when you change your batteries. Also BLS is 3-4 times more expensive then the stuff you find online from China but you can see its a much better quality product.

    They do work but also does mother nature. You may see a improved performance on the cart if you use a desulfator charger if that is what is keeping the batteries from being charged completely. As time and charging and discharging keep happening the cells will flake off and if that is the case the batteries will have to be replaced.
