Parking question from NYC?

A cop came to my house tonight saying he got a complaint that my car has been parked in the same spot for more than 2 weeks. It is my car parked in front of my house. I live in queens, ny. There is no alternate side parking. Is this a legitimate law?

    AN unmoved car for a certain period is considered dead storage and this is illegal. It happens all the time and is generally ignored unless someone complains about it. You must have annoyed someone on your block.

    The fact that it is parked in front of your house is immaterial. You do not own that parking space and have no rights to it.

    I find it odd that a cop would come to your house; usually they would just write a ticket.

    Wow, that's a new one. You're parked legally; I don't see the problem.
