    Chain Rule. You have ln(f(x)), with f(x) = 1/x.

By the Chain Rule, the derivative is [1/f(x)] * f'(x), and you know what f'(x), the derivative of 1/x is, right?

    ln(1/x) = ln(1) - ln(x) = 0 - ln(x).

    Hence d/dx(ln(1/x) = d/dx(-ln(x)) = - 1/ x
