Are Teddy Bear hamsters normally noisier ("vocally") than regular Syrian ones?
I've had one for about 3 months. He "barked" all the way home in the carry box I got him in, and he still only stops when he's asleep, and even then he sometimes squeaks in his sleep. He barks, makes humming sounds (no, he doesn't carry a tune), and does little bursts of rapid-fire squeaks. He seems happy and healthy, I don't think there's anything wrong with him, but is that breed usually so "talkative"?
I mean the long haired variety.

Making noise all the time is strange- if you can, you might want to have a vet check him out. If not, then if he seems healthy he might just be unusually vocal.
My hamster will squeak when he's searching for food (quietly), and my sister once claimed she heard him snoring, but other than that he's never made a sound. My friend's hamster never makes noise, and he's a Teddy Bear (they're just long-haired Syrians, by the way. There's no difference). I think some hamsters are more vocal than others. I have no idea if specific breeds are louder than others.
I've never heard of a hamster of any breed being that vocal before.

Teddy Bear is another name for Syrian hamsters. So you have a Teddy Bear hamster? The correct terminology is that you own a Syrian hamster. They have a bunch of different nicknames. And as for the barking, honestly I have no idea. The hamsters my friend owns never really make noise. Might call a local vet and see what they think about it.

Teddy bears are syrian hamsters its just another name for the hamster. The pet store wants to create their own "hamsters" names so people can be wowed. There are only a few breeds like chinese dwarf or robo dwarf etc but otherwise their just nicknames. Each hamster has their own personality. some are vicious, lazy, sweet or jumpy just like you and me!
