Is it true that more Americans died in the War of Succession?

than in all the wars of the 20th century put together?

I think I heard it somewhere. Seems hard to believe.

Never heard of the War of Succession.

No such thing in US History.

Did you mean the War of Secession?

Succeed: to come after, as one King succeeds another to the throne

Secede: withdraw formally from membership in a federal union, an alliance, or a political or religious organization.

When you count both sides of the US Civil War, then yes, there were more KIA between 1861-1865 than in the 20th Century as a whole.

Not anymore. Not since some point during Vietnam.

Total KIA in the Civil War: 562,130

Total KIA in every conflict since: 687,989

The two biggest conflicts besides the Civil War are:

    World War One: 116,708

    World War Two: 408,306
