Tony Gonzalez Should be Traded?

With the 2013 season literally on the rock, Atlanta fans know the only way to salvage 2013 is to begin work on 2014. So, should the Atlanta Falcons do the right thing by Tony Gonzalez and trade him to a real Super Bowl team like Seattle for a first round pick in this years college draft? There are lots of analysts that are voicing just this and some many sports writers already feeling this should happen too. With the trade deadline coming on Oct 29, Atlanta has little time left to get that first round pick before the field of Superbowl favorites narrows and the trade value for Gonzalez begins to decline. If he should get hurt in the interim, forget that extra first or second round pick for your 2014 run.

Should Atlanta entertain the prospect of trading Gonzalez?

I would if I were them. He is worth more now. Why waste his value for a losing season?

He would be a nice addition to the Seahawks. I could also see him with the Ravens. They need a good TE for THIS SEASON with Pitta being out for the season and all their other TEs suck.

Think about his overall value right now. He's 37 going into what will be 7 games into season looking to hang it up at the end of this year. And...I 'm going to give up what for this?

    I heard Kansas wants him

Atlanta should do him a favor and trade him to the Chiefs. He could finish his career where he started it, on a winning team, and possibly make the playoffs. There's no guarantee he'll reach his stated of goal of making it to the Super Bowl, but he has virtually no chance in Atlanta.

Gonazalez isnt worth anything in a trade. The guy is like 40 years old.

Yes, he should come back to Kansas City and retire a Chief, they have a young talented team and can afford to sacrifice a few draft picks over the next year or two, and he can certainly boost their chances of beating Denver for the division title.

No one is going to trade a 1st round pick for an old man in his last season...

Do you understand how dumb that sounds?

Why would anyone trade a 1st rounder, potentially playing 10-15 years, for a TE that you know is going to retire at the end of the year?

Gonzalez is a HOF for sure, but he has obviously dropped off. There is NO trade value for Gonzalez unless maybe New England wants to send a 5th or 6th round pick to ATL for him.

Tony Gonzalez is an Atlanta Falcon not a prostitute not that there is anything wrong with prostitutes. I like them and have a lot of respect for them ... anyway he is both talented (Hall of Fame lock) and honorable, He will remain a player on this team to help them salvage this season/not write it off as quitters. If a trade happened it might get him a ring but he might just as likely break his leg while being tackled. Case in point : Jamal Anderson of the Falcons held out and didn't report to training camp but when he did sign he was injured later that year and was never the same after.

(Anderson, who ran for 1,846 yards in 1998, missed a week of mandatory mini-camp drills in the summer and the first three weeks of training camp in a contract dispute.)

In other words if he had honored his contract and reported on time/gotten the work he needed he might have been alright.

Tony is fine where he is and we as Falcon Nation however few and far between we are appreciate and love him for it.
