Do you know what's wrong with my mouse?

I have a regular, plain old computer mouse. It is not wireless or anything fancy like that. The problem is, it doesn't move that far off to the left, and it has trouble moving to the right. I've tried feeling the ball on the bottom, but nothing feels different or strange.

Update:

John, I said COMPUTER MOUSE, dork.

    Hi There,

The older style mouse with the ball work just fine but they can get a small amount of lint inside that causes problems like you describe.

To clean them the "holder" for the ball on the bottom unscrews.

Then remover the ball and look inside with a flashlight and remove any lint you find.

Clean any dust or dirt with a q-top.

If that does not help then it is time for another mouse.

    Hope this helps,

    Al

Albert has the right idea, but the ball in the older mice can actually wear and become smaller in diameter. The smaller diameter begins to lose contact with the 2 internal sensors in the mouse. Replacement balls are available for some mice, but it requires doing a search for your model mouse.

They do become dirty over time - You can try taking it apart and doing a though cleaning or just replace it - they are not that expensive.

They do come apart for cleaning.

Usually they need a cleaning every 3 to 6 months.

Hope that this has been a help.

I agree with Ray, but i would also look in mouse settings, and check the sensitivity.
