How can I download things without getting junk installed?
I used to be able to download free software and all was well.
Nowadays I have to uninstall because it has put all kinds of trash on my laptop, like things to do with google.
How do I simply download what I want and not get trash? Is it the new way? So basically we cannot download free software anymore without getting garbage installed too?

Be careful when installing free Windows programs. The installers like to sneak in other things so read each screen carefully instead of rapidly clicking the Next button. Most of the time it's possible to make a choice to avoid installing the extra garbage.
