    To do this correctly, you need the *inside* dimensions. Assuming that's what you have,

    D = 3"

    r = ½D = 1½"

    h = 4⅝"

    Then use these definitions & formulas:

    Area of a circle, A = π r²

    Volume of a cylinder, V = Ah = π r² h

    1 gal (US) = 231 in³

    1 fl oz = 1/128 gal (US) = 231/128 in³ = 1.8046875 in³

    V = (37/8) in • (9/4) in²

    = (333/32)π in³ • 1

    = (1332/128)π in³ • (fl oz / [231/128 in³])

    = (1332/231) fl oz = (444/77) fl oz

    = 5.766 fl oz

    which is just about 5¾ ounces.
