Can anyone tell me what flower this is?

This is a purple Echeveria hybrid, an easy to grow, outdoor succulent plant that likes full sun. It is not a sempervium because the flower stalks are coming out from the sides of the plant, not the center like a sempervium's flowers would.

OR-it could be a type of Sempervivum, which is a perennial also called Hens & Chicks. They will produce "chicks", which then become "hens", while the original "hen" will die out. A lot of people grow them in pots like yours. They also produce a blossom on a 1-foot stem, which is exactly what this looks like. These two plants (the one that Suzy mentions below) look a whole lot alike.
