Do you own the building? If not, maybe you shouldn't. What do you mean, dig a hole? IF you mean drill a clean hole to add a bolt or screw or the like, that's probably okay. When you say brick wall, is it a real, honest to goodness brick wall, or just a stud wall with a brick facade? Real brick walls will be 3, 4 or more bricks thick, depending on the totall height of the building, and get thinner as the building gets taller. I mean are you hanging a picture, or cutting all the way through to put in a window or something? Big difference. If you want to make holes in it, you'll need a masonry bit, and a hammer drill is the preferred tool. If the building isn't yours, don't do more than a hold for a picture hanger, without permission. Do too much in the wrong place, the whole wall could come down. Too many things left out to give you a good answer, sorry.

You want it done as you would if it was a window for what you are talking about.
