The vast majority of Fox viewers were unsure of the outcome, just like everyone else.

What you're describing was part of a failed attempt to rig the election in Romney's favor, orchestrated by Karl Rove. It consisted of generating a lot of propaganda to make it look like the election is close, then committing electoral fraud to win it. If the fraud becomes public knowledge, release more propaganda to muddy the waters and use your influence with a higher arbitrative power to clinch it. Rove pulled it off successfully in 2000 and 2004 for Bush 43, but it didn't work in 2012 because some hacktivists from Anonymous stepped in to prevent the vote rigging, much to Karl's on-air befuddlement.

Don't believe me? Look up how Rove became chairman of the College Republicans in 1973.
