Will college be told about counselling?

I am 16, just sorted college, and I had counselling last year, which I think I need again.

If I tell a counsellor that I self-harm & am sometimes suicidal, (I know my parents would probably have to know) would they tell my college?

They shouldn't unless you give them permission - that would breach patient confidentiality. I've seen university counsellors and even they aren't allowed to disclose anything. Admittedly I'm an adult but still - telling your parents and telling your college are two very different things.

Counselling at college is entirely confidential unless like you said you could be potentially suicidal they would have to pass that information on.

Go and see a college counselor they'll talk you through it.

There is no need to tell your college.

You are not a danger to anyone else.
