What is the difference between update and edit in a Database.?

    Edit is the action of changing / correcting the the data.

    Updating is the process of saving edited data.

    many times edit / Update are used interchangeably meaning editing & saving data

    Update means adding new entry to a list

    While edit is changing an entry like address of a person

    My assumption was that they were the same, but I really don't think that's the case. I'm pretty sure that an edit is when an actual user touches the record and changes something. An update is something that is automatically changed, whether it be from a workflow or a trigger.
