Is is cliched to write about human/vampire romances?
In the story I'm trying to write, the romance thing is more of a subplot to the larger overall plot. I know it's been done a hundred times, but I wanted to see if I could put my own spin on it. Plus I like writing fantasy and romance.

to be truthful i dont think anyone could pull off a big enough spin to make a vampire/human romance a slight bit orgininal or even interesting anymore, sorry

Nothing is a cliche if the writing is good and you bring something fresh to the subject matter. Charlaine Harris has brought pleasure to a lot of readers by telling her vampire-human romance from the point of view of a naive young woman with a difference of her own. Her vampires have come out of hiding and become legal citizens, which creates a lot of new possibilities for tensions and relationships. Harris sets all of this in a quaint gossip ridden Southern town. You could explore some new ideas too. Don't let anyone dissuade you from what you'd like to write. Fiction writers are always exploring and reworking classic themes.

I say go for it! There is so many amazing people who society decides to stereotype just because the vampire thing is "cliche" and get degreated to bad writers, but truly if its original and you have a good spin on it you will probably find ourself with alot of supportive "fans"! Just keep it your own and you will succeed! Write what you want to write where your passion is otherwise you wont be satisfied with yourself ;)
I hope this helps
