should science be banned?
Religion has been blamed as the element that held back human progress for centuries...however, is it science that will hold back HUMANS forever?
I don't know about you but ''progress'' isn't seeming to be so great.
What happens when:
1. governments release Trillions and trillions of micro robots, that infiltrate every human being.
- sure they cure diseases...you live to be 150 and stuff, but now you are monitored 24/7 by the government. They can effectively eliminate your life at the press of as button as these micro robots kill you from within.
2. Patrol Drones. Able to spy on you from 60 thousand feet, inferred cameras and Tasers attached.
- You now have no privacy, and everything you do is being watched.
- through a combination of the micro robots inside you and the CCTV drones...you can be exposed to the world....or you can be killed off.
- imagine if the government became (already is) corrupt. They would now be unstoppable as anyone leading a revolution can ''mysteriously fall down dead'' or anyone who disobeys the laws (perhaps laws come about we don't agree with) also falls down dead.....it could be you.
3. New procedures allow people to change genders as easily as they can change clothes.
- that chick who fondled you last night....was naturally a Turkish gay man.
- I don't know about you guys but that's another total breach of our hypothetical freedom.
4. Genetical modification has made everyone into 6'5 blonde haired blue eyed beings. As strong as a chimpanzee and as fast as a horse. It's great right?
is it?
we would no longer be ''humans''. Which means natural humans would be an extinct species....and all of our human history is meaningless.
If you care about history, Then you would know a lack of natural form humans is catastrophic....its like tigers being extinct and being replaced with something completely different...yet still trying to pass it off as a tiger.
5. its only a matter of time before some scientist's attempt to tear the fabric of space and destroy our existence.
6. Robots now have equal rights...they are condescending, pessimistic and just complete ass holes.
7. asteroid mining has gone completely wrong...chunks of asteroids are speeding towards the earth and with devastating consequences.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Im only kidding when I ask ''should science be banned''
its a very important aspect of our future.
but there's so much potential there to enrich just a few individuals with limitless power over the rest of us.
I cant even wait for the day the rich become genetically modified....they are now taller, better looking, smarter and richer then you....there's 1st class citizens....robot citizens....and then you.
you scum!
I fear progress and with good reason....the smarter the creature is...the more cold-blooded and evil it becomes.
just look at chimps....they rip other monkey to pieces and tear their private part off for shits and gigs.
dolphins rape other dolphins.
Humans nuke other humans (Hiroshima and Nagasaki) and enslave one another.
why cant we all be like dogs...know our place in the pack and love one another.
anyway...should science be sanctioned heavily?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Post script: I ask this question in this category because I know there's a combination of Religious, spiritual and conservative people as well as an opposing number of Atheist, Scientifically minded, progress loving people. By asking the question in this category, I get more well rounded results.
^^^^^^^^^for all the rednecks who need the justification.
ADDITIONAL ***************
Yeah, love the blatantly blind answers here.
''you used a computer to ask this question, therefore you should consider science as the only way and ignore its flaws''
guess what else science did.....Wrecked the world trade centres, nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki and made human beings incredibly superficial and shut out from reality.
You guys heard of internet relationships?...yeah science is responsible for human interaction being at an all time low.
Science is responsible for lots of bad things....but the bigots are easily blinded by their own irrationality.

Okay. But don't stop there, take it a bit further.
Banning science means:
- we stop research in treating or preventing cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
- we stop the development of drugs to ease pain or cure disease.
- we eliminate cellphones and computers and hybrid cars and the internet since continued development of these are science
- we allow people to starve when engineering (a science) isn't allowed to develop water delivery systems to irrigate farms
Banning something because there are negative as well as positive consequences is ridiculous.
As far back as primitive humans, who did live in a "pack" society, learned that fire burns, but it also cooks food and provides light. Both good and bad.
Summer and winter, night and day - there is good and bad in the entire world.

Science, the biggest irony.
Sadly, there is no way back. I have thought about how much happier would I be as a dog. No worries, no bad or good, no critical decisions, etc.
As evolution takes its toll, so does the human race, in a wrong path. If I could, I would destroy it all.
Long ago, I thought that only a loser would accept the word as it is, but now, it's the other way around, you are a fool if you don't move on.

Just because there are abuses that exist with scientific facts and technological developments, such as the development of atomic bombs or patrol drones doesn't mean that science is "evil" and should be banned.
Prior to science, look at the ignorance that much of the world lived in. In order to remedy sickness and illnesses, doctors used leeches and bled their patients, the world was flat, the sun was believed to revolve around the Earth, people believed (really believed) in, vampires, werewolves, fairies and other assorted creatures that do not exist...and religion was in charge. Anyone who has done any reading about the 15th century or before, knows how ignorant the Western world was and how steeped it was in feudalism and slavery (slavery of the mind as well as the body).
Before science and technology, people were routinely burned at the stake as witches. Religion (the Catholic Church) carried out inquisitions where they murdered untold numbers of Jews and Gypsies and anyone they considered a heretic.
Science may be responsible for a lot of bad things, but so is religion.
I think what you are suggesting is that we should go backwards as a civilization to feudalism and religious ignorance and superstition. While this is a knee-jerk reaction to what you think is wrong with our world today, it isn't the answer to our world problems. Going back to ignorance and superstition is not the answer to global warming, over-population, unemployment and all the other problems we face today. Just running and hiding and sticking your head in the sand isn't the answer or solution to any of the problems our world faces today.
I wish to say that religion has a place in our world, an important one - but it isn't the answer to our world problems.

Science is like a car, and people of religion/ideology is like the driver, and Christianity is like the good driver because Christians use it to build world peace (Luke 2:14).
Science is like an aeroplane, and in the hand of terrorists it becomes a tool of destruction.
For it is the people, Christians, who gave the world modern science and modern democracy. Look at these names:
Christian pastor Harvard University.
Christian monk Mendel the Father of Genetics.
Christian Newton, Pasteur, Lister, etc.
The Red Cross whence the Red Crescent ensued.
Habitat For Humanity.
Peace Corps was established by a Christian President and a majority Christian Congress.
Mother Teresa's
St. Jude Hospital
etc

How on earth could asteroid mining go wrong in a way that would cause them to go towards earth? You'd have to specifically aim the asteroid at the earth, which is traveling at thousands of miles per hour around the sun. Unless the asteroid was in earths orbit that one makes no sense

Wow, long question. All true science agrees with the bible. Only false science like evolution should be regulated. Don't ban it, as we need to study why so many people were fooled for so long.

I agree with one thing in this rant. Some dogs are superior to some people.
But I think you know almost nothing about science or what we have learned about the universe through the skeptical methods of science.

Where do you think the computer you typed your question came from? Did the pope crap it out?
The next time you have a potentially deadly disease for which researchers have found a cure, please ignore the treatment that dirty horrible science provided and let it run its natural course.. And please catch this disease before you reproduce, if at all possible.
