It's not. Congress is NOT exempt from Obamacare, despite what Rush Limbaugh might be saying.

Politicians and their staffs will buy their health care on exchanges just like everyone else.

Here's the relevant text from the law: "Notwithstanding any other provision of the law, after the effective date of this subtitle, the only health plans that the Federal Government may make available to Members of Congress and Congressional staff with respect to their service as a Member of Congress or congressional staff shall be health plans that are — (I) created under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act); or (II) offered through an Exchange established under this Act (or an Amendment made by this Act)." http://www.factcheck.org/2010/01/congress-exempt-f...

One other point: many employers pay part of the cost of an employee's insurance cost, and deduct the rest from the paycheck. Congress does this too. So, just like many other employees around the country, Congress and their staff will get part of their insurance costs paid by their employer. How big a part depends on what plan the individual chooses; just like with many other employers.

Did you know that it costs more to execute a prisoner than it does to keep him alive for life imprisonment?
