Things to do to prepare for adulthood?
What should I do while I'm still considered a child, that will help me when I'm an adult. Like financially, education wise, etc. Don't tell me to do something fun while I'm still a kid, tell me something that I can do that will help me in the long run. Also, I'm not even close to actually being 18, I have quite a few years to go, so what should I do within those years?

As someone who's been in your shoes just 3-4 years ago, I have to say the most important thing you need to do now is networking with people, especially those older than you.
No, not socializing. Networking.
Get yourself out there, volunteer and meet people that way. If you're at home, listen to audiobooks about financial management. Think about colleges on your free time, practice SAT's, do not fail your school subjects, and you'll be set.

You should probably ask this question again in the Philosophy section or something other than "Investing."
Develop a foundation of truth. Most people pay lip service to truth and erroneously regard themselves as truthful and honest, while many people can’t stand the truth, can’t handle the truth, and would never go there concerning themselves. It is said to “Know thyself.” Not many can accomplish this. It is far from simple. If you are interested, email me and I’ll send you an Essay on truth and why the average person cannot possibly know themselves. Without truth, you have no foundation on which to build, or cannot possibly find your way.
Even at a young age, you have certain aptitudes. Ever wonder why your horoscope is so close? There are certain things about you that pertain to your aptitudes, your makeup. You have certain inclinations, tendencies, and inherent abilities. Like you may have a natural ability or talent to play a musical instrument, or an inherent aptitude for mathematics. If the earlier, you are a person of depth, maybe poetic, good with people, maybe a good salesman or social worker or an entrepreneur with lots of ideas. If the latter, you may be a chemist or engineer or physicist or other problem solver.
Everyone asks the question, but not many act on it, probably because most people are lazy. They leave life to chance. This is not a good plan, and will undoubtedly end up somewhere they neither like nor expect. How many people love their life, their job, their spouse after 10 years? They will pay lip service to these things, and say they are happy, but they are dishonest with themselves and others, and usually discontented after awhile. Why? Either they didn’t ask the right questions, or they didn’t act on them and find the answers; they were lazy.
One secret to loving life is doing what you do best and doing what you love to do. But how do you know what those things are at such a young age, or at any time in your life? Rather than go through life making mistakes, trying to find something outside yourself that will make you happy, trying to discover something that is already within you, there are aptitude tests than can discover these things for you.
Every college has a free aptitude test to help students discover which “discipline” and which courses to take. I’ll let you figure out why a vocation is called a “discipline” in college. But every college wants you to pay tuition and go there, and will give you the test for free. You are simply trying to discover you “Major” in college. Take the college aptitude test. If one says you’re too young, go to another. There are many kinds and types of aptitude tests. Some can be taken in an hour. The expensive ones take an entire week of testing, but these are usually done for a job application and paid for by the employer. Take two or three different ones, and see how they match up. You are going to be so surprised, and your eyes opened to many options and possibilities that you never would have considered. This is what a college counselor is trained to do – to help you discover yourself and what you would be happy doing, studying, learning day in and day out. Learning is a life-long process, not something you do for only 12 years to make your parents happy.
The first thing you can do is fight the human tendency to be lazy. This includes thinking lazy thoughts and useless dreams. Only the right kind of thinking will get you where you want to go.
One of the most important Samurai texts ever written, by Miyamoto Musashi, “The Book of the Five Rings (1643)”, offers this advice: “Think of what is right and true. Learn to see everything accurately. Become aware of what is not obvious. Be careful even in small matters. Do not do anything useless.”
There can be no great success in life without great commitment, hard work, discipline, and the realization of the “right” type of thinking.
Think on these things (Thought Life)
Phil 4:8
Whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Learn how to set proper goals.
Without a plan, your goal has little chance of success. Write an overall summary of the goal, including details such as timing, cost and location to make it authentic. Decide where to begin, and then make a detailed step-by-step plan of the major tasks needed to achieve the goal. If in doubt, work backward in stages from the final result. Make deadlines if you like, but keep them realistic to avoid disappointment.
By planning, setting goals and priorities about the things you want to do in future may well provide happiness and fulfillment. Although you may not know exactly what you want but start by setting a variety of goals one at time as this may help your sense of direction in life. It does not have to be perfectly planned so long as you continue to focus and stay motivated.
To be successful, professional development must be a core value, and an ongoing, outcome-based process, where the accountability for growth is high. It becomes a mindset.

Learn success principles. Google it.
Read a lot of books (we're not talking about surface social media). It is a way of life of learning. The fact that I have over 1,000 books on my list of books read does not make me smart, just knowledgeable. When you have read 500 books, maybe we can have an interesting conversation. Your library is a treasure trove of unlimited knowledge. Just pick a subject that interests you and browse the aisle. Wondrous information.
