If the bible is the best selling book ever, then why has it never made the amazon top 100 list?

Because there are many publications of it, not just one. Because it is widely available at bookstores throughout the country and people can just walk into the store and examine each of the types of Bibles and determine which one they want in person. I have purchased over 10 Bibles and none of them were on Amazon. But I have purchased many other things on amazon. I would be willing to purchase a Bible on Amazon if the specific one that I am looking for is not available at a local store or is at a significantly cheaper price. Also Bibles are purchased in countries around the world where Amazon does not typically operate.

It had a sizeable headstart as it was the only book produced in significant quantities for centuries, but the low literacy rates at the time ensured that even with little competition, only a few million at most were needed. More copies of Harry Potter were sold in a day than copies of the Bible were produced up to at least the 18th century. So the headstart doesn't count for much. So, how many Bibles do people have? If the content doesn't change, would you keep buying new ones? How many does each household need? I have 3 and I'm an atheist. Two I inherited and one was a gift. So might market saturation lead to declining sales?

Same as the most popular song in the world has never made the top list, that song is Happy Birthday To You.

Because church organizations bought them by the tons and distributed the bibles freely to hotels, etc. Individuals, especially in Asia, rarely buy a bible.

What is freely given (at seminars) or bought in bulk (by churches using tithes) to distribute or even sell at below cost is NOT considered BEST SELLING. Otherwise, an author could claim that he bought 1 billion of his own books and then proclaim himself as the best-selling author.

Selling is numbers. Revenue is the amount paid.

If the bible was judged by people paying for them, it would be way down the list.

It did for years and then Amazon considered all know it is a given and so took it from the list. It is still number 1, today.

For centuries you were estranged, discriminated on or even lynched if you didn't believe in the Bible. And then Christians tell us that the successful intimidation of a great number of people is an argument for why Christianity is right.

Give us break guys, don't make us laugh ourselves to death.

Its not the best selling book ever, its one of the most printed. Most are given away and not sold
