Where to buy cheap furniture?
I am just starting off on my own and I want to know of any web sites that sell relatively cheap furniture.

I would check out Goodwill. (I once found a fantastic, high quality sofa for $99 ...prob cost about $700 in the store new). It was in like new condition. If one Goodwill doesn't have much, check out another, obviously, it's hit or miss and it's going to cost a little bit of your time, BUT ...it will be worth it in the long run. They also have end tables, lamps and housewares for cheap prices ! Travel to a Goodwill Store in a more up-scale area to get even greater "finds" ! Also look for church rummage sales in up-scale neighborhoods...you'll find amazing items. This is going to require that you have a van or a truck ....and a friend to help you move furniture. Enterprise rent a car and Home Depot rent out small vans and trucks by the hour or half day, if you don't have access to a truck or van. Also check the newspaper for moving sales. I prefer these options to craigslist for safety reasons alone. Good luck and have fun.

If you prefer your furniture new, then check out Big Lots. Go to www.biglots.com and type in either your city/state combination or your zip/postal code in the store locator feature to get a list of stores in your area. Look at the ones that have a furniture section. Friends who purchased their bedroom & living room sets from them years ago still have them and were amazed at both the quality and the price.
You will want to purchase your mattress set new, if at all possible, in order to limit your exposure to bedbugs and consider investing in mattress protectors for both the mattress and the box spring(s). Yes, they are a bit on the pricey side, but just consider them to be insurance. It is by far cheaper to invest in the mattress protectors for a one time expense than to face the prospect of having to replace every piece of upholstered furniture in your home/apartment after an infestation.
If at all possible, you will want to do your shopping at actual bricks & mortar stores as opposed to over the internet because it will eliminate shipping & handling charges.
I also agree with the person who suggested thrift stores (Goodwill, Salvation Army. St. Vincent de Paul, etc) and would add used furniture/furniture resale shops, estate sales, yard/garage sales to that list.

I found some cheap furniture myself at: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_3?url=sea...
Most are marked down in price and you get free shipping for most items. There are some pretty good couch/sofa sets on sale for over half its cost, which are pretty cheap in my opinion.
