Procrastination Issue...please help!?!?
Everyday, I tell myself that I will do my homework when I get home from school. But that never happens! I always get sidetracked (internet..) and I can't turn off my computer because half my homework is done on my computer. It gets so bad that I don't start my homework until one o'clock, then I'm doing homework until my alarm rings at 6. I try so hard to get back to my work, but one youtube video, leads to another, and another..or I can't stop looking at someone's photos on instagram...sometimes I don't even need the internet to get sidetracked, I just start staring off into space!!! And the only time when I can finally do my work quickly is when its 2 in the morning and I want to finish so I can go to sleep. PLEASE HELP. I've tried everything. I've tried thinking about how I'll be so happy when it's done..still doesn't work. Sometimes I will even start my homework when I get home, but I get distracted so easily that it doesn't even matter. Some people might think procrastination is an easy issue to fix, and just something that lazy people need to get over, but this is an actual problem. I'm not getting enough sleep. And every night I feel like I've let myself down, and I start crying (which distracts me from working AGAIN) I'm desperate for help. Pleeeassee???
I can't go to the school library because I normally stay after school for the school play rehearsals, and the school's library is only open 1 hour after school ends. I also can't go to a public library, because I can't drive, and my mom is too busy to drive me to the library.

Wow this is amazing. I feel like I'm reading the story of my life. The things you've described are me...or were me. I would always come home and do like 10 minutes of homework. The. I'd take a "10 minute break" that would actually last for hours and hours. This caused me to lose lack of sleep, concentration, and free time. But I just started high school so the transition in school work took a major toll on me. So I decided to use my time wisely. I'm a sociable person so I'm not the one to do homework during lunch. However, I try to finish the easiest ant quickest homework first like during study hall, or a time after class, I promise this does help. You just have to discipline yourself and realize what's more important. Then I've realized that going into a new environment is great. I used to work on my bed, then I'd fall asleep! Haha. But now I go downstairs to my computer, fix a cup of tea, and get to working. Working in an appropriate place yet comfortable is perfect! I'm not sure if you're a Christian or believe in such teaching but 1 Peter 5:6,7 mentions to throw your anxieties upon God because He cares for you. And I also encourage you to please read the amazing article. I hope you find these answers and the article interesting. And I hope I help. If you have anymore questions, feel free to email me! :)

I have the exact same problem..try to go somewhere where you are away from distractions. No people, computers, or tvs. The problem is a fly buzzing in the room can be more fun than homework so the best thing to do is eliminate all distractions.

Try doing your homework in the school library or a place where there is a time limit.
