Casting spells on Halloween?

I know that people cast love spells on Halloween, that much I have heard of. But what about a simple "housewarming" spell, calling in the elements to bless a space, is this a good day to cast such a spell?

It is just ironic that it is Halloween, the housewarming is long overdue, I usually cast them when I move into a new space, this time I didn't, and so far there have been some negative forces present in the home.

Nothing evil or malicious, we just seem to be having a string of bad luck, and failed plans all around. We need to bring in some positive energy, call in the four elements, meditate on some good mojo in the space.

But Halloween time? Is something going to be magnified here, and is that good or bad.

Samhain is supposed to be about the spirits of the ancestors and those who have gone before you.... the ones who made your life here possible and what it is. If you want to do a 'house warming' thing on this day - why does it HAVE to be a spell? I just don't get it.. is this all you think this day is good for.. or witchcraft or wicca for that matter? What most pagans do is invite friends over and hold a Samhian feast. All bring a plate to pass and the spirits of the ancestors are invited and welcomed as well in a small and simple ceremony. Nothing to do with spells. Samhain is the end of the old pagan year and the beginning of the new. The elements don't have a damned thing to do with it.. but I know.. Wicca can't do anything without it. Perhaps if you just thanked the ancestors for their contributions toward your future and set them a plate heaped with food at the table, they will help you past your bad luck. It's not creepy, and it's not a night of ill-omen. Other religions fear death, paganism doesn't. Samhain is a holy day for pagans.

There would be no harm in casting a housewarming spell on Halloween.

Halloween is my favorite sabbat; it's my wedding anniversary.

I smudge (with sage) my home regularly, and I have buried homemade clay talismans in the four corners of my property. Each talisman has a different phase of the moon carved in it (as well as other symbols that are meaningful to me), so that with each moon phase, the protectiveness of the talismans is recharged.

If you feel that there's negative energies in your home, you can place a bowl of salt in a room and (using whatever ritual you prefer) force the energies into the salt. Then drive to a crossroads, somewhere that you never visit, and throw the salt out. When you leave, do not cross your tracks. The negative energy may not be able to follow you back home.

Don't let people tell you that spells don't work. They are simply a way of manipulating energy to shape your environment into one that will bring you peace, health, and happiness. It's important that everyone have a spiritual life, and no one has the right to demean others' beliefs.

People cast love spells on Halloween? If aligning spells with Sabbats, I'd say love spells would be associated more with the spring equinox. (the time of new beginnings, new growth, etc., rather than the time of year associated with honoring the dead and the earth "going to sleep".)

First of all, Halloween is a Christian holiday, and I'd venture a guess that the majority of Christians do not cast spells. Pretty sure Christian witches are in the minority these days.

Samhain is a Sabbat associated with the final harvest, the summer's end, preparing for the winter as the earth is preparing for its winter's rest and rejuvenation cycle. It is also a time to remember and honor our ancestors, our beloved dead.

I just don't think "home and hearth" spells on Samhain.

Nor do I think in terms of "simple spells". All spells require well thought out intentions, a focused mind, the raising and directing of energy. I don't consider any spell "simple", as it is not a simple process. If it were all that easy, everyone would be an expert at spell-craft and casting.

"Negative forces"? (as in forces outside yourself? Like the Christian belief that there are unseen evil beings in the world working against us?) "Bad luck"? (meaning you don't believe you create your own "luck"?) Followed by a need to "call in the four elements"? (as in Wiccan ritual? and you're asking elements to bless your space, not your gods?)

I'm sorry, I'm just rather confused by your mish-mash of beliefs here, which makes it a bit more difficult to advise. Am I speaking to a Christian witch? A Wiccan witch? An eclectic atheist witch?

As a Wiccan witch, I see casting a circle (with elemental correspondences) as setting sacred space to commune with my gods, and the ritual is that communion. I don't feel the need to create ritual space to cast a spell, as I don't need my gods to be there in order for me to cast a spell...casting a spell is utilizing my own energy. I also don't believe the elements are gods.

I don't believe that all bumps in the road of life (failed plans, etc.) are due to some "negative force" working against me. Realistically, it's just life - things don't always go the way I'd like them to. I've learned how to accept that and deal with it, adapt when necessary, and work to create the changes I want to make in my life.

The bottom line is, you can cast spells or do a home blessing or meditate on whatever you want whenever you feel the need. You don't have to wait for any particular day or time.

If Halloween or Samhain isn't a holy day to you, as it doesn't seem to be if you're only focused on spells, then what does it matter to you if you do it on that day? Why would it affect your working at all if this is not a holy day for you that you plan to honor as such?

If you beleive that doing your workings at certain times will help you make them more effective, then I'd say you need to study up on spell correspondences - like aligning magical workings with moon phases or days of the week.

"Is something going to be magnified here, and is that good or bad." ~ If you have to ask this question, I'd have to ask if you even have an understanding of how spells work, and should you even be casting spells if you don't understand them.

Casting spells can be considered dangerous, For without years of practice casting spells, A simple spell can become a curse very quickly and create great problems for those trying to have them removed or changed.....................

Casting spells is asking demons for help.

    Demons never do good.

Demons do what you ask of them to do.

Of course, it goes against free will.

A love spell goes against free will of the person whom the demons attack to love you.

    There are consequences.

To break any curse, pray slowly the Psalm "the Lord is my light and my salvation" 40 times a day for 40 straight days. That's 1600 times in total.

Also, if you're in any trouble, scream: JESUS !
