Only the "Raging Judge" can handle the 454 Casull. The regular models will not chamber the 454. A 410 shell is narrow enough to slide by the chamfer in the cylinder but a 454 will not. The cylinder is only chamfered long enough for 45 Colt. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Taurus_Judge_cyl...

The Judge is designed to chamber only two rounds, .410 shot shells and .45 Colt.

Taurus says specifically in the owners manual not to fire any sort of ammo that has more pressure than a standard pressure .45 Colt, including so called ".45 Colt +p" ammo. They state that there is no Saami specification for +P in the .45 Colt caliber, and that rules out the heavy loads like you get from Buffalo Bore and others.

The 300gr ammo you refer to is for .454 Casull revolvers and if you could stuff them in and set them off they would just split the gun in half.

Krony has it right. There is a difference between the Taurus Judge and the Taurus Raging Judge.

The Raging Judge is rated for .454 Casull. The regular Judge, however, is not.

    So keep that in mind.

For all the bad things I have heard about these Judge's - them not handling factory ammo, any kind of factory ammo - has not been one of them.

However, I have fired 454 rounds from the normal 454 pistol that is quite hefty in weight. The idea of touching off one of the Critical Defense Rounds...... I will pass on.

No. .45LC and .410 shotgun shells.
