Looking down the male has a body shape like a kite, widest just behind the head. The females look more like diamonds, widest halfway down the body. Another clue is the mouth. The mouth looks more pointed in the female and flatter in the male.

By the way it is not good to mix sterbae with most other cories. They have toxic spines on the first pair of bottom fins. You will see a dead cory and the only clue is a single red spot on its side. The sterbae don't chase. It's like a drive by shooting. Just a quick dart and stab and then they wait for the poison to work.

Frozen or live worms get them ready for spawning. Microworms are great for the fry and juveniles to eat. Even adults may eat them if you have a lot of microworms.

Source(s): I have bred Corydoras, Aspidoras, bristlenose plecos, Farlowella, and loaches.
