is it possible to replace my key?

i own a green 2000 honda civic. i lost my car key. i searched all over and cannot find it. is it possible to replace it? and if so how? would i have to go back to the dealership to get a replacement?

    I don't know if Honda keys had chips in them back in 2000. Call your dealer parts dept and ask (or Google it). If they DON'T have a chip just call a locksmith - they have a special tool to make you a key without an original to copy from. It will still probably cost you $100 or so but still cheaper than the dealer.

    Note to self: Always keep a second key around in a safe place. The keys have security chips in them and without a key with the code you will need a Honda dealer to code a blank chipped key for you -actually two keys....

    Cant be too specific about the procedure to replace the key, but a dealer will be able to help.

    Generally, you need one key to program a new one, but the dealer will have the equipment to code-in a new key to your ECU.

    Yes its posible. Just go to the dealer and they will help you out. Take all the info of your car with you.
