Sore throat won't go away. Came back after strep?

Hi everyone,

I had strep throat about 2 weeks ago. I took my 10 days of antibiotics but a few days ago I've gotten a bad sore throat that kind of goes away during the day but still there but more painful during the night and morning. I've had a cough and greenish yellow snot whenever I blow my nose. Its not as painful as strep but I'm wondering if it came back? Usually if I have a cold my sore throat goes away fast. This just doesn't go away. It's been days now. Help please! I'm probably going to the student health center next week if I can't figure this out.

Jenmeow, don't probably go to the Student Health Center on campus, definitely go. Strep throat infections don't include symptoms like coughs and mucus. This sounds more like URI. Unfortunately, most URIs are viral so an antibiotic won't help even though you'll probably be prescribed one. Personally, I wouldn't accept the prescription without knowing for a fact that the infection was bacterial and that requires a culture. I'm not going to kill off half the bacteria I need in my body for a "maybe".

Do you drink, smoke ? You might be snoring so bad it's giving you a sore throat, or you may have acid reflux and gas and liquid from your stomach is coming into your esophagus.
