If technically-not-philosophers are permitted then my absolute favourite thinker is the Harvard psychology professor Steven Pinker. His "The Blank Slate" and "The Better Angels of Our Nature" are among the best books I have ever read in my life.

Nikola Tesla. Ignored social conventions, did his own thing, lived his life as he wanted to rather than seeking financial success, and spent the last few years of his life trying to build a giant death ray.

I love Nietzsche
I completely disagree with all of his notions and ideals, but it's entertaining to consider his perspective and all of his crazy possibilities.
