Need help with a college major?

I've been thinking of majoring in something that has to do with stem cell research and development (like working in labs and research centers in order to further develop the issues regarding this field) I know that I have to do 3 years of biology first then choose a major from there. But what I don't know is the name of that major and how popular it is and how beneficial it can be to my career. All I need is your opinions and information. What's the actual name of that major (stem cell thing) and how far would this get me through my career? Next year will be my 1st year in college so I have to have some information.. I'm still deciding but I like the idea of stem cells...
