Trying to choose a tablet for my seven year old?
She wants a Nintendo, but I said a tablet would be better are functions etc and also an e-book! I keep going back to Kindle fire, are there any better ones out there!?
Please don't suggest supermarket brand name as I do not live in the Uk!
I am very capable of putting a child safe system on a tablet for her and I want it mainly as an ebook!
She actually needs internet access as some of her school projects are about using the internet! Thanks for being SO judgemental the first two answers! Answer three is great and really helpful, thank you!

If the seven year old wants the Nintendo, give her the Nintendo. Just think of all the child-safe games: Animal Crossing, Mario, Style Boutique is good for girls, etc etc.
I think this is better than a tablet designed for adults, which has internet access. If you do know how to use parental restrictions on the tablet properly, you never know what she could be looking at online.
I'd say the Nintendo is a safe and fun way to go.

I'm not being judgemental but I just don't see why a seven year old needs a tablet.
I was playing with Lego at the age of seven.
The news recently reported more and more children are not focusing on education and turning up late for school because of laptops and tablets and are not being properly protected from dodgy sites because they're not educated.
However she's your child, Kindle fire is a good tablet same as Microsoft Surface.

Actually Kindle Fire HD is the best option for kids and specifically for that age. This tablet does not seems much childish and you can enjoy all features while keeping the kids restricted using the Parental controls.
Here is a discussion on which tablet is best for kids - Take a look:

The parental controls are good and you dont have to look out for the time your kids use it, just make the profile for your kid and set time limit directly so you dont have to say to her to stop using it.
Hope this helped!

Your child is probably too young for a tablet. The Nintendo is great for children and more prone to a child dropping it. However at 7 you probably shouldn't be giving her any gadgets, a Barbie or something will do.
