Fake text from my number?

My partner received a text message which appeared to be from my number as it showed up in his conversations with me. However it did not appear in mine and I am 100% certain I did not send it. My handset was next to me in my flat as I slept (I live alone), no one else had access to it.

My question is, could someone have hijacked my number to send that one text message?

The content of the text has put my relationship at risk and I am worried someone has something against me from being with him so I really need some answer to all this!

I am going to contact my carrier/network, but would like some more information!

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

From what I have read, it can be easily done from a computer.

If you have a Linux based computer you can make all the fake email you like all day (to anyone, and from anyone). Instructions are to be found on Youtube.

If you download the free "Fake SMS" app from the Android market, you can send a fake SMS to any number, from any number using any Android phone,

Someone used caller ID spoofing to make it appear that you sent the text. If it becomes an issue, your provider can help you sort it out. See below:
