I don’t think any antivirus software of today’s generation would ever support offline updates. Virus definitions changes extremely fast and online updates are the best solution to this. You should have an internet connection if you want to update your antivirus software. if you mean offline update, I assume that you don't have direct access to internet on the pc. You can update your antivirus offline manually but you will need to download the latest virus detection files every hour and exactly know how to update your antivirus and where to get the virus detection files from .

Offline update doesn't exist. Also the generic windows life essentials is good, and free, and better than norton or macaffe.
