What does "crumb check failure" mean when trying to answer a question on Yahoo answers?
What does "crumb check failure" mean when trying to answer a question on Yahoo answers? Doesn't happen all the time, just on some questions. I know that a crumb check is like a trail of bread crumbs and that's what they call the link path to get to a certain place on the Internet. Like "Yahoo Answers / Aircraft / How do I become a pilot?' Like that. That is a trail of bread crumbs. So why does the error message show up called "crumb check failure" ? Seems more like a programmers error message. Anyone?

You probably have more than one browser page open. When you logged out of your other Yahoo account you forgot to refresh the page so it could update to your current account. You will see that it is showing your OTHER id to post when in fact you are logged into your secondary/primary account. If you refresh the page, it should update to whichever account you are currently logged into.
If you only have one account and you share a computer, someone else may still be logged in. Just refresh and relogin if necessary and post.
Happened to me when my bf stayed logged in.

"crumbs" are essentially all of the coding in the URL that take you to the place you want to be. If you look at a URL on a page like Y!A then the URL is made up of bits (crumbs) of code. So I agree it's not a "end user" message that we should be seeing ordinarily.......... but this is Yahoo for you!
Essentially what it's saying is that part of the link is incorrect and it can't take you there. So something changed in the meantime in the code or the end link.
What you can do is to first copy your answer (crtrl+a to highlight all the text and then ctrl+c to copy it to clipboard). Back page to the original menu and click the question again. If it still exists (which may be the problem in that it's been deleted in the meantime whilst you were composing your answer) and then you can paste it (ctrl+v) again in the refreshed link.
If that doesn't work then it could be down to a bad cache which also happens here from time to time and it's worth deleting your cached files and/or cookies on your browser.
