I have an hp officejet pro 8600 brand new printer/scanner/copier/fax machine. It works on 1/2 computers?

We have 2 computers in the office that have always been able to work on the same printer. It works on the computer the cable is hooked up to but the other computer, when I put the CD in to install it on this computer and "add new printer" it goes to search for a network check and it has been stuck on half way loaded for hours. It wont work. I've tried restarting the computer and exiting out and starting over but it wont let me cancel out of the network check. We don't have wifi in the office so we cant print through wifi. Any ideas on how to get this printer to be identified on this computer? Please someone who knows about electronics help me.
