Why are Americans so nice?

It is easy to be nice to someone as wonderful as you.

I agree most Americans are nice but there is a reason for that. if you know back in 1970s and 80s Americans were little rude and also racist on foreigners but since more immigrants from parts of the world came to america, Americans had to be nice in order to live in peace with each other, actually the government wanted them to be nice to foreigners so they can use their brains and ideas in order to improve their country. the america you see today is because of those foreigners from Asia and Europe otherwise I grantee that without the foreigners, america will end up like Soviet Union.

Actually, most of us are very nice. As far as the manners, (atleast in NC), it's just what we're brought up with. Most of the people who talk bad about us are only judging us by the Internet via Xbox live, play station, YouTube, etc... I'm glad you enjoyed it here dude! Come back soon!

I think it's just part of our national character--helping someone out when they're clearly in need is very American. Saying please and thank you is drilled into us from a very young age. I ALWAYS volunteer to take someone's picture if they're clearly foreign--ALWAYS!

I'm glad you got to experience the Midwest and South, as they are VERY different from New York City or California (what you see in movies). Next time I suggest you come to the West Coast--Californians can be a little uppity, but the people are more relaxed on the West Coast than anywhere else in the US. I think its our proximity to Canada, as others have hinted.

It's funny, I expected the worst before I went to France last year; I was ready to pretend to be Canadian if I met any true American haters, which I expected to be regularly. I never met ONE person who clearly disdained me because of my homeland, and met TONS of nice people who went out of their way to help me even though I barely spoke any of their language. It just goes to show that our preconceived notions are rarely correct!

America, well I am a American, but I am a mixed Hispanic american that speaks Spanish by my first language, Anyways, Americans aren't ALWAYS NICE, you probably went to the better states and more nicer ones in the United States, If you go more to the North of the United States, then a lot of the Americans are a$$holes, trust me on that. I think Canadians are more nicer than Americans. I mean lots of Americans make fun of Hispanics and stuff like that, Americans always try to make themselves feel better about themselves because they think that this is their land when in fact, this whole land was by the Native Americans and the Americans here are just from European descendants, well the White Americans. If you went to the better of America than, good for you, I like finding nice Americans but I think good and bad comes in every race, ethnicity, nationality, or group. So, it really depends but lots of Americans are piece of TRASH.

Wow, so true! I come from The Netherlands and have been to the USA several times. I simply love the Amercians for their kindness, positivity and helpfulness! I wish the Dutch would take this as an an example. I wish I was an American citizen.

Most Americans are actually very kind and caring. It is a big misunderstanding that people think we are "rude" here.

We just wanna live happy lives and make sure other people are happy too!

You should come to the West Coast, sure there might be more snobbish people but the nice people are extremely nice and genuine :D

You must have been in the better parts because I live in the states in Indiana, and it truly depends with each person, but most of us (at least me) think Canada is the better half of North America.
