Analyze this quote!? Grapes Of Wrath!?

It's from Grapes Of Wrath; what do you think the meaning is?

"Failures dulled and the future was no threat. And hunger did not skulk about, but the world was so soft and easy, and a man could reach the place he started for. The stars came down wonderfully close and the sky was soft. Death was a friend, and sleep was death's brother."

I think the meaning has to do with the people accepting death, but I'm not positive. All interpretations welcome! :)

you are right the quote is all about death,

death comes and no one would care about failure or success, or even hunger.

when you dieing you feel that the world was easy, when u were thinking it is hard and strong in daily life.a

I think the quote saying: death is another journey and you should accepted as easily.

but most important is that he meant accept life as it give you. because all what you actually achieve you won't take them with you so relax

and it is awesome quote :)

Because the beginning of the paragraph is "And always, if he had a little money, a man could get drunk." The rest of the section is about how the man feels when he's drunk. "the hard edges gone,...he could people his brain with friends,....the the earth grew soft under him." "Failures dulled,...the future was no threat." These are all the feelings while he was in that drunk place that feels like a different world. There was no hunger the world was soft and easy and he could have what his drunk mind could reach for. In that state of numbness and the way the mind is dulled, death was no threat and to sleep was was the state you fell into not even caring if death comes.

But then as soon as the man wakes up and reality hits him like a thunder clap, he feels so horribly, physically, that he wishes he could actually die and the fact is that he won't. I think that is why alcohol is such a draw for people. It numbs them against reality for a time, but reality is always at the bottom of the bottle.

That's what I think at least. Grapes of Wrath is such a fantastic book. The way Steinbeck paints the pictures with words leaves me in awe.

We're always manifesting. Each thought we have produces an energy circulation within and around our physical beings. This energy attracts its similarity. So if you're believing, "I draw," then your energy sort of, well, draws- and you bring in draws experiences and this is just among the things that this book Manifestation Miracle https://tr.im/BCCxg will learn you. The positive affirmations, as soon as you impress a brand-new thought, idea or image into your subconscious, it ultimately ends up being rooted in the soil of your subconscious.

Manifestation Miracle is really extensive and the optimal non fluff guide to the law of attraction and ways to utilize it to its maximum capacity. If you are looking for a life altering inspirational read then this guide from start to finish! You most certainly won't regret it.

I think it has to do with people accepting Life in general and in doing so, things got easier, they failed less, they weren't afraid of the future (unknown) or of death.
