how do you lose money by getting a job?

if you paid a fee of some kind, or cashed some check, etcetera... that is on you.

I would bet the website has clear and concise disclaimers as well as clauses in the terms of service that cover this. the school has already offered to do more to help you than they are required to.

    I wouldn't think so.

If they have a website where job postings are - I don't imagine they are responsible for the content of one job posting.

One needs to be responsible for oneself. If you paid out money for some mysterious job - that should have been your first clue it wasn't legitimate. As well as this kind of scam has been around forever. Scams are everywhere and one needs to take responsibility for themselves if they get caught up in one.

The school did not force you to sign up and pay money.

if the school was directly responsible for you contacting the scam business you can sue them for negligence, get a lawyer ac ouple of letters should get a generous offer , they can't afford to be seen messing up their students careers
