What Leonard Cohen album would you suggest as a good start?

I first became aware of his music way back with the Natural Born Killers soundtrack and liked what I heard, but never went any further.

Now I'm a little over awed about where to start.

Any suggestions?

Songs Of Leonard Cohen is one of his all time best records. Some of his finest songs appeared here, including the luminous 'Suzanne,' the subtly venomous 'Master Song' and 'Sisters Of Mercy,' which would later be used to memorable effect in Robert Altman's film McCabe and Mrs. Miller. Many artist work their whole career to create a work as singular and accomplished as Songs Of Leonard Cohen, and Cohen worked this alchemy the first time he entered a recording studio; few musicians have ever created a more remarkable or enduring debut. This is one great album, and should be owned by all Cohen fans.

Another great album by Cohen would be Songs Of Love And Hate. This album captures Cohen in one of his finest hours as a songwriter, and the best slections, 'Famous Blue Raincoat,' 'Joan of Arc' and "Love Calls You by Your Name', rank with the most satisfying work of his career. This also is one of his best albums.

Start with either "Various Positions" or "I'm Your Man."
