What's all this about people 'hiding' in shipyards during the war?
Surely working in a shipyard (like working as a miner) was crucial to the war effort. I don't like this white feather mentality, where men and women who did not fight on the front line are branded as 'cowards'. You could as easily call the ones who volunteered for active service as cannon fodder 'idiots'. I've only been back on here for a week and I've seen it a few times.
T, dinna get me started on charlie and his 'freedom'. Another fly by night chancer who caused the desolation of the highland as a mere 'by the by' to his tenuous claim to the british throne. The clan chiefs who allowed their folk to be slaughtered in his name should be the ones shamed.
Anyway, i see that your 'hiding in the shipyards' jibe was in response to previous remarks about 'hiding in ireland' and I accept that, but do you not think as adults we should be above all that?
T, you must know that i am able to accept banter in all forms and that in my q's and a's never condone any form of abuse. I am not singling you out for any reason. In fact, i was unaware that you were the only person responsible for the 'hiding in the shipyards' comments.
Chas, only the dundonians who had any sense were hiding under their beds. The rest were lining up to be massacred in the name of capitalist imperialism like everybody else.

calm down mate ,I was just having a dig at a few on here who were branding the celtic support cowards who hid in Ireland during the world wars ,if people cant take abuse back they shouldnt go about brandishing people cowards and the such ,but since you mentioned it ,its a bit like the lowlanders and folk in the central belt who hid in Edinburgh and Glasgow when the highlanders were being slaughtered fighting for Charlie and freedom in 1745
Source(s): why thank you Jamie ,good to see someone see my reasoning ,amazing how easily offended the ra gers true blue british we ll kill who we want cant take any criticism without calling foul play ,even Sir Peter tore you all a new one this week................................................... well mr falgee a lot of people should be above a lot of things ,calling other fans paedos and beasts seems an exceptable slander on here so I cant see anythingwrong with my remarks ,my club and fellow supporters took the usual poppy day / week abuse but you never thought to interject or Q the standards of other users ............................................................................................................ celtic supported the war effort in both wars ,my own rabid taig family were in gallipolli in WW1 but luckily escaped the slaughter brought about by the rangers hero sir Winston Churchill ,in WW2 my father served in the R.N. - Caine7SFG™Lv 77 years ago
With the amount of Bombs that fell on Scottish shipyards during the war, you weren't hiding from much by being there...Some people didn't go fighting because they were needed elsewhere, tanks and ships don't build themselves...I know that a lot of Irish jumped on the boat to the republic to get away from it, but then it wasn't their war at that point...But a lot of Irish also fought alongside the British..

It disappoints me that anyone would somehow use these arguments when slagging off other clubs.
During WW2, the people in Rangers and Celtic were very much on the same side. But T did not make the point to suggest what you think he is trying to. Merely to show how ridiculous it is for Rangers fans to make a similar point about Celtic.
