Is vanity one of the big hurdles to move past the illusion of "self"?

How to get past vanity?

Update:

@Brigalow Bloke

Yep, I imagine it would.

Update 2:

@Mysterious

I'm not disputing what you're saying, but I need to know this for myself. I can't just take your word for it, now can I?

    delta,

    Yes, self indulging with pride creates separation from wholeness. Self observation of the false-ego-idea in action of indulging in vanity will in part drop of its own accord.

    Meditation in silence using Vipassana, inner vision will reveal no self, spirit or god. Seeing is the deepest aspect in Being; no judgment; no illusion and no time. Realization of being one with existence is a true sense of freedom in great joy and contentment.

    Take a look/see.

    by looking within. as you move through life your awareness will deepen, the remnants of the ego still will be there and will be revealed to you through your actions/reactions and your awareness
