I'm terrible at self hair dying so...?

Dont do that, the colour will go all patchy and mixed matched, ask a relative or friend if you have already bought an at home dye and if you havent go to the salon

I do this when dyeing my hair to avoid big messes:

1. wear an old button down shirt

2. clear off the counter top except for some kleenex, wipies, and an empty garbage bag

3. put a lot of moisturizer on my face, ears, and back of the neck (any dye that gets on me can be easily removed)

4. wear rubber gloves

5. apply the dye (I use a paint brush looking instument that I got at Sally's with a pointed handle to easily part my hair. I move a bit of hair at a time to make sure I get it all)

6. cover hair with a shower cap

7. clean up the sink area

8. when time is up, wash up in the shower

9. towel dry hair with an old towel

What do you mean make it easier? Make it easier how?

No, don't mix conditioner. Only mix when you're running low and still have more hair to color, and you use shampoo. Its a last resort.
