How much to feed eight month old?

My baby does not like baby food she never has. She would rather have cereal and different finger food so she could feed herself. I feed her 6 ounces of a bottle. She gets about three to four bottles a day plus 2 to 3 at night..... I'm wondering if she's getting enough nutrition. And what are some good finger foods that I can give her... I already gave her little pieces of beans. Meat. Nd veggies

Any healthy food that is soft that she can gum chew is fine. My boys did better eating with larger size pieces like the size of a french fry. Some kids do better with tiny pieces. Baby food is table food.

Here are some good finger-food meal combos:

    1. Sweet potato and apple

    2. Banana and avocado

    3. Roast chicken and apple

    4. Cheese omelet and turkey-apple sausage

    5. Elbow pasta with marinara sauce and foccacia

    6. Cheese toast and sweet potato fries

    7. Swiss cheese and apricots

    8. Mac ‘n’ cheese and beets

    9. Green beans and pears

    10. Butternut squash and peaches

    11. Peas and plums

    12. Carrots and apple

    13. Banana and cherries

    14. Fresh mozzarella and tomato

    15. Cheddar cheese and figs

Source(s): google ideas! there are many great tips out there! My youngest had a favorite snack at this age - garlic hummus dip, served with soft carrots

At this age her formula is still the basis of her diet, so as long as she's getting enough formula (and 6-7 bottles sound like plenty) she's getting enough nutrition.

As for what finger foods to offer -- she can eat anything that's reasonably soft that she can pick up and eat. Whatever you have prepared for yourself, cut up a few pieces and put them in front of her. (Almost any cooked veggie, fruits, grains, cheese, eggs, fish (check carefully for bones), bits of poultry or ground meat, pasta, rice, potatoes ... the list goes on.

EDIT: I trust you are smart enough to ignore Linda R's attrocious and ignorant advice. Why exactly she thinks that you should let your baby become dehydrated and ill, in order to force the baby what YOU think she should be eating, I have no idea.

YOU must do what's best for your child. Give her healthy foods only - place them on her tray and let her feed herself. Do NOT give her liquids until she's finished her foods first.

If you only give her veggies - she may complain and refuse to eat....but she will get hungry and finally eat what's placed in front of her. Remember, YOU are the boss - NOT her.

my doctor told me to take the number of months a baby is and add 2 and that's how many oz the baby should be eating ie. 8 months+2= 10 oz, 6months+2= 8 oz
