Just a question about the tube...?

Hi, I was wondering in what direction the district line travels from Paddington station (as in its destination) as I am trying to get to Ealing Broadway.

Thanks for the help

xx

Update:

Also what will the cost of the journey be on an oyster card? Just so I know how much to top up!

District Line trains from Paddington all go to Wimbledon or occasionally Richmond (there are no regular through trains all the way to Ealing Broadway, though there might be a rush hour one), so you will have to change at Notting Hill Gate and switch to the Central Line from there. That takes 27 minutes. On a train from Paddington it takes 7 minutes, and costs the same.

The District line is effectively in two parts, Edgware Road to Wimbledon, and the rest, except that the Wimbledon branch shares both sets of routes. They even use different trains! So you can't get there direct from Paddington. Change at Notting Hill Gate to the Central line. The fare is £2.70 on Oyster off peak as Ealing Broadway is in Zone 3.

Much quicker is Heathrow Connect which goes every 30 minutes and stops at Ealing Broadway. The fare is the same and Oyster is accepted.

The fastest way from Paddington to Ealing Broadway is on a Heathrow Connect or Great Western train from the mainline station and not the Underground. They run every few minutes and the journey takes 7 minutes. Oyster Cards valid. Fare £2.40.

Please ignore all the answers telling you to go by Underground. It will take 6 times longer than the train

You would need to change at Earl's Court as no District Line train that stops at Paddington goes directly to Ealing Broadway.

However, you'll want a westbound train.

Another option would be to take a Hammersmith & City Line train (westbound) to Hammersmith and change to the District Line there.

For £2.40, you should be able to take the Heathrow Connect service which will take 7 minutes. Otherwise, check the boards for District line trains to Ealing Broadway. All tubes go in the same direction apart from those which go to Edgeware road. See link.
