Touch lamp turning itself on?

I have a touch lamp next to my bed.

It has 3 settings (touch once to have dim, touch again to have moderate and touch again to have full bright)

I had it on the dim setting and when I went into my room it then changed up. I turned around and looked at it and continued to do what I was doing and then it went to the brightest level and then same again I turned back and it turned off?

I got into bed and then it went up again? Without me touching it?!?!?!

I made sure that nothing was touching it.

What could be causing it?

    sometimes other electrical devices switching on & off on the same circuit (ceiling fans/refrigerators/lights/ect) will cause a surge in the power causing those lamps to switch on
