So recently, we have had a pair of mallard ducks (a male and a female) in our garden

They have been there since Thursday (today being Monday) and we are unsure if they are going to stay and nest or something?

There isn't a pond in the garden but nearby there is a large lake which has a lot of ducks in it

They keep walking around the garden (looking at and observing the whole garden, mainly shrubs and secluded spots in plants), go off for an hour and then come back and stay over night (repeating)

My main questions:

> Are they likely to stay and nest?

> What should we do if they do have a nest?

> Should we call the RSPCA?

I remember during December 2010 there being a lot of snow and that it was particularly cold but I don't remember if it got particularly cold (Maybe less than -7c)

However my Dad said that one time about 3-4 years ago it was -16 when he started our car and that deicing fluid froze on the windows of our car once but I am not sure if it got this cold.

So I have been looking at recent temperature in America and Canada, and it is getting down to about -20 degrees Celsius.

So my question is: What should you wear when going outside when it is this sort of weather? As in Edmonton is is -20 at 9am in the morning, so what would you do if you needed to go to school?

I know wrapping up warm but, how many layers and would you need anything like a balaclava?

Or the other suggestion is just to stay inside! haha

But anyone that lives in areas that get extremely cold weather like this (and answered what they did), would be great!

BTW i am in the UK.

I have a touch lamp next to my bed.

It has 3 settings (touch once to have dim, touch again to have moderate and touch again to have full bright)

I had it on the dim setting and when I went into my room it then changed up. I turned around and looked at it and continued to do what I was doing and then it went to the brightest level and then same again I turned back and it turned off?

I got into bed and then it went up again? Without me touching it?!?!?!

I made sure that nothing was touching it.

What could be causing it?
