Why is it necessary to "reach across the isle"?

The knee jerk reaction would be: "because nothing would ever get done." but isnt there a reason why so few people are willing to accommodate? I mean, if there was a Nazi party in the House or Senate, I dont think "reaching across the isle" would be a good idea. Even a little accommodation to a Nazi party would be horrible...

So if 2 parties are arguing completely opposite things, then someone is right and someone is wrong. Reaching across the isle would only be detrimental. The Nazi example is a little extreme but do you get what I am asking?

If you reach across the isle, even though you are right, you are then accommodating to detrimental policies... Which side shouldn't be accommodating?

It's not possible to reach across the isle. Nobody's arms are that long.

    I think you mean "aisle".

And it's not necessary. Democrats have become dictatorial fascists, so there is only one natural response left.

If 2 parties are arguing completely opposite things, there's a good chance they are both wrong.

Our country was designed as a democracy because our founding fathers thought it was foolish for anyone to believe themselves correct all of the time. People aren't that perfect. Our government was designed to force people with different views to compromise and reach a middle ground. Refusing to reach across the aisle is an insult to what our founding fathers intended for our country.

One side may very well be like the Nazi Party, but our system of government would also require Nazis to compromise in order to set national policy... unless they resort to armed revolution and completely overthrew our current government. Since nobody has attempt that yet, I would argue that means we don't have any Nazi-like parties. However, when people threaten armed rebellion after elections go unfavorably for them, I begin to suspect those people are part of a Nazi-like party.

It's been total obstructionism for five years.

    Our arms are getting tired.

I don't know what the GOP is trying to prove other than being unwilling to work with Obama on anything.

It's childish and I don't want children running my country.

The people have spoken. We want divided government.

We voted for a Democratic President

We voted for a Democratic Senate

We voted for a Republican House

We want people to reach across the aisle because thats in part what ALL OF THEM promised to do and its what is required to do to SOLVE PROBLEMS which is another thing the politicians promised.

Remember, they work for us. Its their job to reach across the aisle instead of the usual political reach around with each other in each other's club.

There is nothing wrong with reaching across the "aisle", but there has to be someone on the other side reaching back. And lately, that hasn't been happening.

Compromise is much of the reason why we're in such a sorry state.
